Marijuana, Gun Control, Minimum Wage Hikes Win At The Polls

Filling a void created by congressional inaction, voters in a scattering of states tightened gun control laws and approved increases in the minimum wage. The campaign to legalize marijuana achieved a major breakthrough, with victories in at least six states. In all, more than 150 measures appeared on statewide ballots in Tuesday’s election. California, Nevada and Massachusetts approved measures legalizing the recreational use of marijuana, while Florida, Arkansas and North Dakota voted to allow pot for medical purposes. A recreational pot proposal lost in Arizona. The outcome of another in Maine was too close to call.

But by early Wednesday, white voters’ resounding support for Donald Trump — including a majority of white women — was the clearest trend at the voting booth. That’s according to the results of Edison Research’s national election poll, which was collected from a sample of 24,537 respondents at 350 polling places.

US Presidential Election Spending Sets New Record of $6.6 Billion

No matter how poor or indebted a country is, there is apparently always enough money for two things: war and elections. According to gobankingrates.com, the current U.S. presidential race is set to be the most expensive race to date. So far, it has cost at least $6.6 billion USD. As of October 25, 2016, the two major presidential candidates had spent a combined $1.13 billion running for office, compared to $913 million spent at the same point in the 2012 race.

Voting Machine Problems Are Being Reported All Over America

After what happened in the last election, people seem to be more alert to signs of potential election fraud this time around. And right now the Internet is buzzing with reports of voting machine problems in some of the most important swing states. In some areas officials were forced to make emergency switches to paper ballots due to voting machine issues, and in other cases voters that intended to vote for Donald Trump were having their votes registered for Hillary Clinton instead. The mainstream media is insisting that these are “isolated instances”, and hopefully that turns out to be true because the integrity of our elections is of the utmost importance.

Russian Carrier Group Arrives Next To Syria, To Launch Aleppo Air Strikes "In Hours"

Having travelled for the past three weeks from its base in Severomorsk, the Russian naval group in the Mediterranean, headed by the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier, dubbed by Reuters the "Largest Naval Force Since The Cold War" has arrived in Syria, and as RT reports, is preparing an offensive against militants on the outskirts of Aleppo, Syria, according to reports citing a source in the Defense Ministry.

Exit Polls Reveal "Fear Leads Optimism" As Economy Remains Top Issue

With minutes left until the first polls official close at 6pm, the first exit polls have started coming in and they confirm that the economy remains the top issue for a majority of voters, according Edison Research exit polls cited by the WSJ, followed by terrorism, foreign policy and immigration. The WSJ also notes that voters were asked about Supreme Court appointments and around 70% said it was an important factor or the most important factor in their vote for president, including roughly 1 in 5 voters who said it was the most important factor overall. When it came to the quality that mattered most in picking a candidate, a plurality selected someone who “can bring needed change.” Having “the right experience” and having “good judgment” were tied for second, followed by someone who “cares about people like me.”
